An enchanting goal boosts Liverpool’s chances in the semi-finals

(Reuters) – Emery Chan scored a great goal to give Liverpool a 1-0 home win over Watford on Monday, boosting their hopes of ending the season in the top four in the Premier League.

Life in the midfield match came in the last minute of the first half when Chan’s unusual back shot followed Lucas’s pass to the top corner.

The goal, described by former commander Jimmy Carragher as “one of the best goals in Liverpool’s history,” was the only bright point in the first half, with only substitute Adam Lalana hitting the crossbar.

Watford, who seemed to have no incentive to tie in the second half, came close to the scoring when Sebastien Brodle hit his left foot in the crossbar in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Liverpool beat Liverpool 3-0 on 69 points, three points behind fourth-placed Manchester City and four on Manchester United.

But Manchester United played less than Liverpool in the Champions League.

“I have never scored such a goal at all, maybe when I was younger, that’s the best goal I’ve ever scored,” he told Sky Sports.

“I saw the space and ran and I thought at first to play the ball with the head. Then I did not think much.

“Our fate is in our hands now, if we win the last three games, we are guaranteed a place in the Champions League, we have confidence, if we do our usual performance we can complete the task.”

The goal of the German player is undoubtedly one of the best goals in the Premier League this season but the sense of importance increased because it came after a modest performance from the team of Juergen Club.

* Moment of inspiration

When Liverpool’s playmaker Philippe Coutinho lost a leg injury after a fourth-minute fray, the team lacked cohesion and offensive power.

And then, suddenly, Lana replaced the Brazilian player five minutes before the break.

England striker Lalana took advantage of a shot from goalkeeper Horrillo Gomez and fired a 20-meter shot into the crossbar.

But Lalana’s shot was nothing but appetizers. In stoppage time in the first half, Lucas, who was his only appearance before the shot when he received a warning of the fall, sent the ball to the penalty area where Chan prepared himself for a moment of magnificence.

Without any luck, Lui-chan’s body swung into the air to strike the ball with his right foot in the dizzying Gomez net, and loud celebrations began on Liverpool’s bench.

“His back shot was really exceptional … very impressive,” said Klub.

The goal seemed convincing to Liverpool, who used to squander chances of winning against lesser league rivals this season while glaring against rivals in the top six.

Although Lalana was close to scoring and substitute substitute Daniel Sturridge was about to score in the final seconds without Gomez’s brilliance, Liverpool’s failure to settle the game almost cost him dearly.

In the last four minutes that the referee calculated a lost time, Liverpool failed to keep the ball out of the box and Brodel fired a shot that hit the bar in the last attack on Watford.
